Who's next at UH?

How about Larry Coker? Or maybe Joe DeForest?
The former Miami head coach was a finalist for the Rice job one year ago .... only the negatives from his players' off the field problems with the Hurricanes kept him from getting that one. Everyone who knows him speaks fondly of him. They say he's a great guy .... a player's kind of coach and he will recruit well.

The UH fans who are stunned that Art Briles would leave the Cougars for the Bears aren't in touch with reality. As much bluster that UH fans put out there about possibly moving into an expanded Big-12 or SEC .... the fact remains that the Coogs can't regularly fill Robertston Stadium and they don't have the overall resources to match those of the Big-12 or SEC schools. Plus Art doubled his yearly salary in his move .... from $900,000 per year to $1.8 million. Baylor has the total support of the Waco area and the Bears simply have more money to spend than UH.

Joe Dalton leads Stafford

Butch Alsandor

The Stafford High School football team didn't win a game this season.
But the players learned one of life's toughest lessons , how to persevere.
The Spartans went 0-and 10, but they were all winners because they never quit .

Linebacker Joe Dalton ll was an example of what real determination was all
about. At 5'10 and 185 pounds he's not the biggest linebacker you will ever see,
but his will to get to the ball made him look 7 feet tall.
In his first year as a full-time starter , Dalton recorded 123 tackles and 6 sacks in ten games.

The Dynamo are still holding out hope the their star forward Brian Ching will be back for the MLS Cup title game Sunday ......but even if he isn't the players are determined to bring the Cup back from Washington D.C. Head coach Dominic Kinnear says Ching's playing status will be a "game-time decision" but the team's other star layer, Dwayne DeRosario says,"I plan on having him on the field with us Sunday. I know he's badly hurt ... but I also know how he is ..and if there's anyway he can play ....he'll play." DeRosario knows how physically strong and tough Ching is .... plus he also knows all about his competitiv...

I know a lot of viewers and blog readers don't have a lot of love for David Carr....but even players that weren't close to him on the Texans would be quick to tell you how tough Carr is. Here's more.........

Wade-ing Into the Off-Season

1:07 PM Fri, Nov 09, 2007 |
Matt Musil

If Astros general manager, Ed Wade, has done nothing else .... he has at least put local baseball fans on notice that he is not going to sit around and wait for something to happen during this off-season.

Wade got rid of Brad Lidge and his big salary ...and signed on the team's center-fielder of the future Michael Bourn this week. Some are arguing that the Astros should have gotten more for Lidge ...and they probably could have last summer around the trading deadline. But remember ... someone else was in charge of the team's personnel back then ...and he no longer has a say so.

Wade is going to ...
