How about that for a headline??
Actually although I'm hoping that reading my daily blog will become a habit for you ...I definately know it will become a habit for me. Starting today ...and everyday that I'm working from this day forward .....I'll be text blogging in this space daily.

I remember when KHOU.COM first became an entity ...and I talked with the man in charge at that time about doing a weekly column. His response was, "Sure ..if you think you can fit it in your schedule." Now the question is ....what don't we fit into our schedule in the local TV business?? I run across tons of stories every week that I can't share on TV or in my video blogs so I'll start sharing those stories and more .... ... in this space. Who knows what could happen when I get my new lap-top computer???

I just finished a reporter round-table for an area sports cable show with Jerome Solomon and Charlie Pallilo. Jerome writes for the Chronicle and he co-hosts a sports talk show on 97.5 FM ..... while Charlie hosts a sports talk show on 790 The Sports Animal. Both of these guys are fun to talk with about anything not just sports. While talking with them ..... they said that their shows were really slow right now ....and they're both looking forward to football season. Can you imagine what it would be like to have one negative caller after another to deal with .......everyday ..on your job?? Certainly these guys are well compensated for doing their jobs ....but it can't be easy.

Let's face it if our local teams aren't doing well ..... the mood of local fans is well ....right down in the dumper with our teams. But if the local teams are winning ..... life is good. But what's really crazy about the mood of our citizenry is that ....... when the local pro teams aren't doing much to get fans excited, the people in the Houston area have so many other entertainment options .....it's really no big deal. But even if one of our local teams gets hot ....and is making a great playoff run ....... everyone in the city ..... I mean everyone ...even non-sports fans get excited!!
I for one, am holding out hope for another late run by the Astros. Our water-logged bodies ..... and rain-soaked depressed psyches can use it!!
