If you ever watched an old Beverly Hillbillies episode on TV you would be familiar with Jethro and the cement pond ... which he called the swimming pool. Well ... this story is about a Jethro who doesn't have anything to do with a cement pond ... but he does have everything to do with make Mario Williams a better football player.

Jethro Franklin is the Texans new defensive line coach this season. This will mark his 7th season coaching in the NFL ....but it's not his first stint in Houston. As a player .... he was an 11th round draft pick by the Oilers back in 1988.

Franklin is happy to be back in H-Town ...but also he's happy to be working with so much talent along the defensive front. He was brought in to shake up and re-focus the talent the Texans have acquired for the defensive line and from watching practice and talking to his players ..... Franklin is doing just that. What I asked Williams his opinion on Franklin ....he answered,"Well ....I really can't say much about Jethro ...and that's all I can say about that ..ha ...ha." Obviously Franklin has Williams' attention and the big former #1 pick does not want to cross him. Both are good things.... as this team tries to mold itself into a playoff contender.

So no, this Jethro doesn't live in Beverly Hills ... and he has nothing to do with a cement pond .... cyphering .....or even Miss Jane ...but like TV's Jethro he is in charge millions of dollars of assets. They're called Number-one draft picks and they play on the Texans' defensive line.
