I was so frustrated watching the Astros collapse Monday night in Los Angeles. They were coming off a solid sweep of the Oakland Athletics over the weekend where they hit the ball like everyone thought they were going to when the season started. The hometown team is known for making dramatic comebacks as the season moves on and while languishing 10 games under five hundred, I was thinking the weekend success was going to be the start of them playing better. The Angels are better than the A's and when the Astros had a 9-4 lead in the 7th inning out in California, I was thinking, this is good, no this is really good. I know you're not supposed to get overly excited until the game is over but I admit, I was. This team has talent. I was talking to manager Phil Garner during the last homestand and he feels the same way. He mentioned that it was just a matter of time before they broke out offensively, he liked the way his pitchers were coming around and as I listened, I was trying to remain optimistic but it's been hard. I was so impressed with the way they were hitting against the Angels and how they responded after being down early in the game, I thought this is it. It is starting to happen. We are going to have a fun rest of the summer. Nobody is running away with the division. These guys can get back into it. I wished I still felt the same way. Baseball is a patient game. You've got to have patience to survive but by the time game one with the Angels was in the books, I nearly became a patient in the heartbreak hotel. What do you think? In your opinion, do the Astros have the talent and do they have a chance to make a run at a division title?
