As the NFL draft approaches there is still a lot of speculation about which players will end up where. Don’t be surprised if the Texans end up trading down for draft picks. In some circles, Oklahoma star running back Adrian Peterson’s stock is falling faster than Enron’s. This is hard to believe, but if it turns out to be true the Texans would love to see him fall to number 10. 1. Oakland: JaMarcus Russell QB LSU The Raiders can’t go wrong because they need everything on offense. However, if Randy Moss is traded Oakland could take the best player in the draft receiver Calvin Johnson from Georgia Tech. 2. Detroit: Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin I’m still not convinced the Lions won’t take Brady Quinn. Jon Kitna was OK last season but he’s not the long-term fix at quarterback. Thomas is the top lineman in the draft and they do need better protection for Kitna. But with Matt Millen you just don’t know, anything is possible. 3. Cleveland: Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame Quinn is from the area so they would love this guy in Cleveland. It's always a gamble using your first pick on a quarterback but they need a good one. 4. Tampa Bay: Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech This would be like winning the lottery for quarterback Jeff Garcia. Joey Galloway is getting up there in age and Johnson appears to be something special. 5. Arizona: Levi Brown OT Penn State The Cardinals have to fix the offensive line for Edger in James and Matt Lienhart. Levi would certainly help that situation out. 6. Washington: Gaines Adams DE Clemson The Redskins need help stopping the run and this guy should be a monster inside. 7. Minnesota: Ted Ginn Jr. WR Ohio State The Vikings also needs a quarterback and defensive line help. But Ginn would be a top-notch receiver and right now the Vikings don’t have one. But if Brady Quinn freefalls the way Lienhart did in 2006 the Vikings might grab him. 8. Atlanta: Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma Warrick Dunn is getting older, and Peterson would be great in a power running game. 9. Miami: Leon Hall CB Michigan He could really help the Dolphins secondary. 10. Houston Texans: Laron Landry S LSU The Texans could really use an impact player in the secondary and this guy is the real deal. Landry is 6’2 and about 210 pounds. He would fit in perfectly with Dunta Robinson, DeMeco Ryans, and last year’s number 1 pick Mario Williams helping the Texans build a top flight defense. |
