I know you've all been waiting for this especially after the success I had picking the two teams that were going to play in the Super Bowl. I knew it would be the Colts and Da Bears now let's look at the big game.
I just checked the weather forecast for Miami and that will have a huge determination on who is going to win. It's 50% chance of rain and if that holds true, it will be a advantage for Chicago. They are used to the outdoors and inclement weather. Of course they would love to have it between 10 and 30 degrees but that will not be the case as it could be rain and between 70 to 80 degrees. Da Bears are a more physical group and they rely on a nasty defense, a punishing running game and high intensity special teams play. Bad weather fits them perfectly. We will know early on in the game, no matter what the conditions, if Da Bears will be successful by how they run the football on the Colts. If Chicago quarterback Rex Grossman is forced into a passing game, Da Bears have no chance.
The Colts success centers around Peyton Manning. What a surprise statement that is! He is the player Indianapolis will count on to lead them to the title. The impressive thing about Manning is his confidence and no matter what obstacle he faces, he will be prepared. No player works harder to game plan, understand what he's facing and adjust to the elements like him. He will score points against Chicago but the big question is, how many will he need? I've heard some people say it will be a high scoring game. I don't buy that. If Peyton can get to 21 points, he will win. I was watching the Colts play the Chiefs and the Ravens during the first and second week of the playoffs and they were really fast in those games. They didn't run as well the following week agasint the Patriots but I have to believe they will be fast in the Super Bowl weather permitting of course.
The Colts have a disadvantage on the special teams in the coverage department but if it's close, kicker Adam Vinatieri is the best and a field goal could very well win the game.
So there you go, the Colts are favored to win. Many fans I've talked to are trying to convince themselves Da Bears are going to do it but in the end it will be Peyton hugging his coach Tony Dungy after the game and walking over to his Dad Archie giving him a big hug and under the gray skies of Miami, the sun will be shining on him. He'll overcome Chicago and the elements. Colts 21 Da Bears 17
