Not the way you draw it up for Romo

The game plan was prepared and carried out almost to perfection but I, like many of you, watched in disbelief as the Cowboys were ready to move to the next round of the playoffs winning a crucial game in Seattle. They were inside the Seahawks five year line with about a minute left to go in the game ready to take the lead with a fieldgoal. It is a dramatic automatic moment in 99.9 percent of the time. The center snaps the ball, the holder puts in on the ground and the kicker nails it through the uprights. The Pokes were poised to take the lead but hold on Cowboy. What was a sure thing, turned out to be Tony Romo's worst nighmare. The snap was perfect, the hold wasn't. Romo caught the pigskin and as he was turning to place the ball on the turf, it slipped out of his hands and panic was present. He grabbed the ball and took off for the left side of the goal line but was tackled before getting a first down, which incidently he could have gotten, or a touchdown.

The place went nuts as Romo stayed on ground, misery seeping out the earholes of his helmet. The Seattle faithful went nuts. The Seahawks had won in a most embarrassing situation for an opposing player. Romo was used to holding for fieldgoals as the backup quarterback and kept those duties when he became the starter. He was good at it, and he had led the Cowboys down the field to set things up. Everything was perfect until that horrible moment for him. It's something you have to deal with alone. After it happened, nobody wanted to be around him. It was so simple but yet turned so complex. I was thinking with how everything is scrutinzed these days, if he will ever recover. My bet is he will but this is going to be an off season to lay low. Can you imagine what people will say everytime they see him? Can you even imagine what nicknames he will hear when he's just out and about trying to live a so called normal life although, take it from me, nothing is normal when you are a quarterback in the NFL let alone the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Romo had a chance to be the toast of Texas, the Cowboy riding into a beautiful sunset. You get the picture. Now he'll keep from showing his face anywhere.
