If not Carr, what about Kolb?

The Texans have not completely closed the door
on bringing David Carr back , but if they do slam it shut
where do they go from here ?

Before offering my two cents , I'd like to go on record
saying I like David Carr. I still believe he has the skills
to suceed in the N.F.L. but it maybe time for a change of scenery .

Bowl Games more than just football.

Butch Alsandor

I've been to bowl games as a player and a reporter, and each
time it was a unique experience . Back in the "stone ages" before
satellite television , I was a member of the McNeese State football
team that went to two Independence bowls .

The Cowboys were a division 1 school then and our conference
winner got an automatic berth in the bowl game.
As a player it was always something to look forward to ,
but it was the experience leading up to the game that blew me away.

T-Mac out 2 days or 2 weeks?

Even at 60 "Rocky" still packs a punch .But what about
Tracy McGrady at 33.

The answer to that is a resounding yes, when he's healthy.
But once again back spasms have put T-Mac on the shelf ,
and the burning question inquiring minds want to know
is for how long?

According to Rockets Vice President of Operations and Athletic Trainer
Keith Jones , McGrady could be out 2 more days or 2 more weeks .

Okay, I told you so ... but ...

Okay, last winter after the Rose Bowl I told you the Texans should draft Vince Young but right about now .....I've really gotten tired of saying that.

Vince Young is outta this world!!!!!

4:15 PM Mon, Dec 11, 2006 |

Just when I thought I had seen it all, now this. 39 yards at warp speed with amazing grace (although it wasn't a prayer) for the game winner against the Texans. Vince YOUNG is MAN among boys... like no other player I have ever seen. I can remember a few years back when he was playing for Madison High School. One of my former teammates for the Houston Oilers offensive lineman Conway Hayman, who was coaching locally, told me Young was the best athlete he had every seen. He said you can not believe the talent of this YOUNG player at Madison High School. I watched him do amazing things as he got on a roll in the...

Who do you blame for the Texans mess ?

1:27 AM Mon, Dec 11, 2006 |
Butch Alsandor

Did you hear Al Michaels on Sunday Night Football
after Reggie Bush grabbed a short pass and turned
it into a 61 yard touchdown. He said ,"If I were a Texans
fan I would be wondering what in the hell they were
doing passing on Reggie Bush in the draft."

John Madden added , "I'd draft Bush for anything, he's that good."
So before you blame all the Texans problems on David Carr,
remember he's not in charge of personnel decisions.

For Pettitte , its all about respect .

6:52 PM Sat, Dec 09, 2006 |

The big picture of Andy Pettitte returning to the Yankees
is something not everyone can relate to .

If my wife and I are struggling to pay the rent on 30 thousand dollars
a year , it would be tough to have any sympathy for Pettitte or the Astros .
Its a billionaire vs a millionaire so everything's relative .

This was really all about respect . Pettitte said for 14 million a year
he would have stayed in Houston. Believe it or not , that price was
under the going rate for pitcher with Andy's skills and experience.

Vince vs David

The fact is this game is about more than just Vince versus David, but that's what everyone is talking about.

ASTROS DEALING

With the Astros seemingly poised to trade for right-handed pitcher Jon garland of the White Sox ....maybe this means Andy Pettite is saying So-Long!!

And it came to (not) pass

5:41 PM Mon, Dec 04, 2006 |

It was one of the classic sleepers of all time. The Texans were victorious over the Raiders inspite of themselves. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to win in the NFL and a win is a win, but what we saw in the bay area will never be forgotten, not because of incredible athletic manuverability, but because of the Texans strange offensive strategy. How can you possibly walk off the field feeling good as an offense when you only net a minus five yards passing and it was a nice day. It wasn't the same scenerio as the last time something like that happened and the team won. It was another Houston team and I was on the...
