Fred Weary talking about his arrest.

A big story was made last week of Texans offensive linemen Fred Weary resisting arrest during a traffic stop and then being Tasered. The "resisting arrest" charges have been dropped and we may never know exactly what happen but we do know this... Fred Weary is a stand-up guy. By that I mean, he met with the media on Wednesday afternoon after he was cleared and told how he felt during the entire ordeal. Weary has the reputation of being a really good guy and you know what happened had to really hurt him inside. Wednesday afternoon we found out just how bad. As he sat in front of his locker at Reliant Stadium, this massive man got real with his feelings when asked "how bad did you feel" about what occured...his response, "I felt really bad... it takes a lot to build a reputation... I guess it lasted about five minutes for everything to happen... It can tarnish your whole reputation."

There are plenty of questionable characters wearing NFL uniforms each week and so when a guy who has earned a great deal of respect within his organzation and with his peers, is involved with the law, you scratch you head a bit. It doesn't surprise me for Weary, the charges were dismissed. I'm hoping he will just keep trying to block for David Carr and not have to keep protecting his name.
