Are the Texans on a sinking ship ?

If the Texans were a ship sailing the high seas they would be
tapping out an SOS right about now, hoping some brave soul
would toss them a life preserver.

They are not drowning yet, but it seemed like it after
dropping a 34-to-6 decision to the Cowboys at Texas Stadium.

Truth be told, I didn't expect them to win the game, but I did think
they would score at least one touchdown.

They had a great opportunity on the openning drive going
61 yards only to settle for a Cris Brown field goal.

Its hard to believe now , but for two quarters the Texans defense
actually had the Cowboys number. They held Dallas to only 114 yards
in the first half, and rookie Mario Williams was showing
flashes of what could be. Super Mario had a career high 5 tackles,
4 were of the solo variety.

But things went downhill quickly after the Texans lead 6-3 at the half.
And inquiring minds want to know why ?

Dallas did make a few adjustments at the break, but
it really all came down to field position.
It seemed like the entire 3rd quarter was played on the Texans
end of the field.

The Cowboys put together a solid openning drive to start the 3rd quarter,
but two interceptions by David Carr kept them playing on a short field.
Dallas could really pick and choose who would score their touchdowns
and that why T.O. scored three times.
The Cowboys knew scoring would be a great way to shut him up.

Meanwhile , for the Texans it really comes down to one thing,
they are not deep enough to overcome crucial mistakes.

Somehow , somewhere , they have
to find a running game to keep the defense off the field.
They need to do it quickly because with Jacksonville on the horizon,
a long season might get a lot longer.
