Most of the big names on the Champions Tour will be playing here. When I was out on the range Lee Trevino, Lanny Wadkins, Bobby Wadkins, Bob Murphy, John Mahaffey, Gary McCord and defending champion Mark McNulty were all hitting balls.
One of the most interesting sights was to watch Trevino give Mahaffey a swing lesson on his iron play.

Roger Clemens and Johnny Bench attracted most of the attention on the course Wednesday as they played on the same Pro-Am team with professional John Mahaffey. Astros fans shouted encouragement to Roger during his round ...and he told me that it's those fans that make him think about coming back. (So ...if you're an Astros fan and want Roger to return ....let him know it.) Clemens said right now though ....he was trying not to think about baseball. He has set no time-table for a possible return in 2007 but Bench told me,"I won't let him wait so late in the game this time. He's not going to wait until the 12th hour to announce his decision. It won't be long this time ....I'll let you know." With that Roger told me Johnny was actually talking about his 3-iron not playing baseball. And with that ....the Hall of Fame catcher and the Future Hall of Famer .... both laughed and roared off to the next hole.

The actual Champions event by the way begins Friday.
