The ROCKET in another orbit

What a setting at Minute Maid Park Wednesday afternoon. For the 32,000 Astros fans, it will stay with them forever. If you were watching it on TV, you'll never forget it. If you were listening to Milo Hamilton on the radio, you felt his emotion describing what was happening on the mound. The Rocket, Roger Clemens was pitching in what was possibly the last start ever in front of the home folks. We don't know what the future will be for him but we all know he can still tossed it at the highest level of anyone currently in baseball. Back to the situation. It was the top of the seventh inning as Roger strolled back out on the mound. The Astros were leading 7-nothing if you can believe it. (they usually don't score any runs for the guy) He had held the Reds scoreless through six innings giving up only three hits. At the plate, he had doubled and sacrificed twice. Just another day at the park for him but thinking we all would never see this again created a frenzy. As Garner took the ball from him, the place went nuts. He tipped his cap to crowd, acknowledged Craig Biggio and with the faithful on their feet, walked to the dugout. If you're a sports fan with any kind of emotion, there was a lump in your throat watching this take place. He went down the steps to high five his teammates and the fans just kept cheering. The curtain call was coming as he went back up the steps, tipped his hat again and saluted his catcher Brad Ausmus. It was a special time in Houston sports history. As a fan, you're always looking for sports greatest moments. Well it doesn't get any better than to watch a legend cement his status.
