In my mind, it comes down to two things . First, is starting
Vince a decision that will hurt the team?
No, the Titans are 0-3 and going nowhere fast.
Its as simple as what I call the Mr. Spock theory ,
"The needs of the many ,out weigh the needs of the few"
which comes from one of the Star Trek movies.
To me it means if playing Vince will hurt the Titans chances
to win games and make the playoffs , then don't start him.
But clearly that is not the case .
In fact , you can make the case that playing Vince now
will only make the Titans a better team in the future.
The only teams with more issues than the Titans
are the Texans and Raiders, so why not give Vince the
on the job training that worked so well for hall of famers
Dan Marino and Troy Aikman.
I'm sure the question Jeff Fisher's inquiring mind is pondering,
is how much can V.Y. really learn if he's getting killed ?
Can the Titans protect him enough for him to be sucessful?
All I say about that is , sometimes you just have to
fight through the bad times.
David Carr is doing that with the Texans ,and I'm convinced
it will only make him stronger .
Starting Vince this weekend would be challenging with
the Cowboys coming to town. But again, you have to start
somewhere . The game would be in front of the home crowd
and he would have plenty of support.
The Titans already have an offensive package with special
plays just for young so why not put them to good use .
But maybe Tennessee owner Bud Adams has something else in mind.
Don't be suprise if Young's first start comes against his hometown
team, the Texans.
