While E drove down to Stanford for her meeting with the English graduate program advisor yesterday, I poked around the embarcadero in San Francisco. (I had to head back to the Hyatt to get a jacket, though, it's downright chilly here.)

I rode the trolley car out to Pier 39 and enjoyed an afternoon watching the crepe-maker, the fudge maker, and the sourdough bread makers. I bought J a trinked at Lefty's, a shop with all kinds of fun stuff for left-handed people. Stopping for lunch at Hook & Cook, I enjoyed a spicy, red-style shrimp and clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, while chatting with three young ladies here from Ireland for the summer.

Later, E and I came back to Pier 39 for a fantastic dinner at Neptune's Palace. The views of the bay are unparalleled from Neptune's many dining areas. I began with the house mixed greens salad tossed with a citrus vinegarette, both sweet and savory at the same time. E ordered the almond encrusted Salmon with julienne vegetables over fettuccine and I chose the garlic roasted prawns served with buttered linguini. My plate could've used a bit more garlic, but maybe that's just me. The waiter suggested a bottle of Sterling Sauvignon Blanc, which complimented the meal to perfection.

Today we're checking out of the Hyatt Regency, driving across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, then over to UC Berkeley where E will check out the grad program. After Berkeley, it's over to Napa Valley for a stay at Yountville's Vintage Inn.
