7:52 AM Tue, May 19, 2009 |
Paige

Year after year, orphans from around the world hope and pray for a family to call their own. As the years pass, their dreams start to fade when they begin to realize that the older they get, the less likely they will be adopted. Still, hope exists for some and especially for one thirteen-year-old Chinese boy named "Gong Chu". He still dreamed of a family.

Kimberly Craddock is a social worker for the Gladney Center for Adopt...

Other than wash behind your ears, don't run out in the street, and never talk to strangers, there are very few parenting absolutes. Still, we as moms feel the need to know all of the so-called "right" answers to many of the most perplexing mommy dilemmas.

Best friends Sara Ellington and Stephanie Triplett, have very different approaches to parenting. They have put their opposing views in a book called the "Must-Have Mom Manual". ...

It's bedtime and I am tucking my boys under baseball printed sheets. I told them that the next morning, I would be giving a speech to members of a local church. This led to a conversation about Jesus and ultimately to a conversation about the twelve disciples.

"Who's your favorite disciple?" I ask my five-year-old.

"Peter." He replied with little hesitation.

"Why?" I ask. "What's so great about Peter?"

It's hard to know what's worse, Snakes on a Plane or Children on a Plane (my money is on the children). For parents, there is nothing more anxiety producing then boarding a plane with your kids. You feel the tension from other passengers as they pray not to be sitting anywhere near your family. Often, your worst nightmare comes true and the screaming begins shortly after take off and continues until the plane touches down.

I recently received an email from a viewer who wrote in reaction to a segment I did on recognizing the signs of Autism. Her child exhibits signs of the disorder and needs help, but because Autism is a spectrum disorder, her son is falling through the cracks - and financial assistance will not be provided.
Here is an exerpt from her letter:

Hi,

My name is Carolyn, I am am mom of 2 boys. Dean is 3 and Ian is 4 1/2. I...

Because I know no member of the male race will be reading this blog - it's hard to justify even writing this. However, for you ladies - feel free to print this out and stick it under your man's pillow or under the toilet seat and hopefully he'll get the hint.
I am talking about What Not to Do for Mother's Day Gifts. Let's be frank, most men will wake up in a panic on Sunday morning, stick their sleepy-eyed, pajama-clad kids in the car,...

I live in the city of Fort Worth and am now suffering from the effects of the Swine Flu. No, don't worry, I have not been infected by the Swine Flu, instead I have been contaminated by closure of all schools in Tarrant County . I have two kids - make that BOYS- that are home from school for a week. They are smelling up the place and making me climb the walls.

I stayed home with them on Thursday and Friday of last week. Finally, w...
