Yesterday, a Fort Worth 14-year-old teenager was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors by another teen over comments posted on My Space. Although her injuries were not life threatening, this tragedy illustrates a larger problem called Cyber Bullying. Some studies suggest that 1 in 3 teens have been victims of Cyber Bullying and Texas lawmakers are taking notice. Senator Judith Zaffirini, a Democrat from Laredo, has filed a bill intended to add cyber bullying to the state bullying criteria in an effort to ensure that schools are treating it seriously. Parents need to be informed of all of the resources available to them. I have listed a few below: Pathways Teen Family Camp. A five day intensive experience based training that focuses on creating respect and responsibility while appreciating each other and fostering communication and problem solving skills within the family.
