There is a little book called COMPLETEly You - no, this is not a typo. The author, Cheryl Richardson, wanted to emphasize the notion of "COMPLETE" in the title. The sub-title reads, "12 Things Every Girl Needs to Know". The book is intended to target girls between the ages of 10 and 15. The notion of "COMPLETE" comes into play in the third chapter of this little book. Richardson writes, "You do not need a boyfriend to complete you. You do not need to be head cheerleader to complete you. You do not need the most expensive clothes to complete you. You do not need to have sex to complete you. You do not need to have a baby to complete you. All you need to complete you....is YOU!" It is a great, manageable read for a pre-teen and for her parent. Hi, I enjoyed this segment and think the author is on to something with her approach. Just look at one of the segments that preceeded this one: the recent stabbing of one teen by another. I think if we focus on the basics we are much more likely to help bring out more whole young adults.
Thanks for this segment! This is great to keep in mind as we are raising our daughters (and sons) and helping them to make wise choices early and letting them see the consquences of their actions early so they can learn to change course if needed! Thanks for having Cheryl on!
