It's another New Year and once again, I get sucked into the whole resolution idea. I go into it with a great deal of enthusiasm - but then seem to loose ground sometime in February. The good news is that this blog allows me to actually write down my resolutions and then refer back throughout the year to see how it's going. So, in no particular order, here are my New Year's resolutions for 2009.
1. Be Bold
So many transitions occurred in 2008 that I was insecure when facing new people, new career, and frankly a new industry. It was a year of learning and the education process was exciting and intimidating. Although I still have a lot to learn, I am not scared any more. I am ready to no longer as preoccupied with technique and more in-tune with being myself. I hope this translate well in life as well as on camera.
2. Be a Confident Parent
I spend a lot of time apologizing. Apologizing for my decisions. Apologizing for my home. Apologizing for my children. I am done apologizing. After all, I am the Not-So-Perfect Parent and I am going to embrace my imperfections. Although I want to run an efficient household, I need to understand that I am already doing that - successfully! Sure, the dishes may still be in the sick and I have completely given up on the toy closet- but my kids are happy, respectful, and obedient. I am doing okay.
3. Blog More
Towards the end of 2008, my blogging (or journaling) really started to slack. I want to blog when I am inspired and be inspired more often. There is so much to document - so much to say. I need to take advantage of this outlet to share the highs and lows of my journey.
4. Be Grateful
Be grateful for everything. For a hot shower, for comfortable shoes, for the fact that my eight-year-old will still hold my hand in public, for my husband, for it all! Being grateful sets your heart on the right frequency for positive things to continue in your life. I am going to be grateful and mindful of all of my blessings.
So that's it in a nutshell. I reserve the right to edit, modify and add to these resolutions as the year proceeds. I can't wait to share it with you!
My thoughts for 2009.....Be original............
When we try to become what we think we want to be or should be, we stray from what we were intended to be.
God gives each of us a special gift.
I vow to listen to this part of my soul.
You can only truly be successful and fulfilled when we are doing what we were specifically created to do. This may not be what we think we should do,but maybe we should not think about it so much.
