| Not-So-Perfect Parent: Piggy Goes to the Emmy's Part II! »
I was nominated for two Emmy's. Not the Hollywood kind - it's the Journalist kind. I don't consider myself nor refer to myself as a journalist. Instead, I feel like my primary role is to tell stories about those among us who honor the role of parenting the blessing of children. This is kind of a big deal to me. Being very new to this whole TV thing has been challenging to say the least. Thank God for family. My sister and I have a great relationship. Our personalities differ immensely, but our bond has strength beyond friendship into a realm that frankly only sisters can understand. Jenny DeVries wrote, "What's the good of news if you haven't a sister to share it?" My sister and I share nicknames. I refer to her affectionately as "Cow" and she calls me "Piggy". Days after my nomination, I received a pig-shaped card in the mail that included this poem: "There once was a piggy that lived down in Texas Now this Little Piggy, she worked on TV This Piggy was clever, a Pig in the know Then along came the Emmys, not just one but TWO! So to all those who thought she was just a big Ham, She's a star, now, celebrity! That she did it herself, on her very own feet, Thank you Cow!! You're Udderly Awesome! |
