In my job, I have had the privilege of meeting many families with children who have Autism or Asperger's syndrome. A common complaint that I hear from these families is that people have a hard time seeing past the disorder and lack the ability to recognize the talents and gifts that are present in every child. The Miracle Project, founded in Los Angeles by a famous acting coach, created a stage performance comprised primarily with kids with Autism or Asperger's disorder. A local mom is bringing this organization to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. "It just seems like a natural progression", says Lori Guthrie, mom of Matt Perez-Guthrie. "I am a theatre person and a teacher. When Matt got diagnosed, I never thought of anything other than merging our two worlds. I know to most this doesn't seem like a logical life progression. (Autism, Theatre.....)To us, it just is." To learn more about this amazing organization, check out these resources: Website: |
