Can I just say how much I HATE writing thank-you notes. Mother - please cover your ears so you can't hear this - but it's true - I really hate writing thank-you notes. It bothers me that this small act of kindness causes me so much frustration. After all - it's the considerate thing to do. It's not that I don't appreciate the gift. It's more that it's one of those tasks that is so easy to put off. It lingers in your mind and keeps you up at night. Now that I am a parent - it's even worse. Not only do I have to be responsible for my thank-you notes - but I also have to be in charge of my kid's thank-you notes. For some reason, husbands get a free pass on this duty. Kinda like PTA meetings and history projects, husbands manage to get out of this responsibility without any shame or guilt. The truth is, in the time that it has taken me to write this blog, I could have finished the thank-you note I still owe my mother-in-law and sleep well tonight. Oh well, maybe I'll get around to it tomorrow. |
