Me: No, but I bet they're yummy! Do you pick the chocolate leaves from the tree or do you eat the ones that have fallen on the ground. Luke: Mainly the ones on the ground. It seems that I never have what I need when I need it. I've been know to spend two hours searching for my keys or a pair of scissors. Well meaning people will say, "Where did you last put them?" Their story was inspirational. But the truth is 20,000 kids age out of the foster care system each year. It's the last soccer game of the season. Finally, my son has possession of the ball. This is a momentous event and I cheer as he runs towards the goal. "GO COLTON!! GO COLTON!! YOU CAN DO IT!! RUN!! RUN!!" All of a sudden, everything stops. Colton stops and the other team stops. Confused, I look around and see the ref running towards me and yelling "GET OFF THE FIELD!!" In my excitement, I realized I had been running beside ... Being pregnant was such a trip. Everything swelled - my belly, my feet, my face. I felt like a big marshmallow. I also must confess, I really freaked out as I saw the dial on the scale continuing to rise. It was hard keeping my mind and my emotions in check fearing the extra pounds would remain for ever as a sacrifice to my new bundle of joy. Many women share these types of fears. Mother - please cover your ears so you can't hear this - but it's true - I really hate writing thank-you notes. It bothers me that this small act of kindness causes me so much frustration. After all - it's the considerate thing to do. It's not that I don't appreciate the gift. It's more that it's one of those tasks that is so easy to put off. It lingers in your mind and kee... Earlier this summer, my eight year old - while playing a round of hide-in-seek -- slammed a closet door on his right middle finger.
