Not-So-Perfect Parent: Regret

I’ve lost him… I’m talking about my eight-year-old. He has officially left me for the temptations of sports, friends, and school. I look back on the times when he asked me to play Candy Land or Hide-and-Seek and I regret – truly regret choosing work, cleaning, or the other pointless details of life over precious time with him.

Sounds pretty depressing, but I still have bedtimes and morning snuggles. I will be at the basketball practices and the baseball games. I can’t stomach the idea of girls, cars and other adolescent milestones and I will commit to acknowledging and being grateful for the time I have left. Childhood truly is so fleeting. Love them every minute. Bless them everyday and never, ever take it for granted.
