My mother spent the night and watched the kids so that I could leave early for work. I adore my mother, but when she watches my kids, all rules fly out of the window. Case in point…. It’s breakfast. Luke, my three-year-old is eating his cereal and watching Clifford. He says to my mother, “I don’t yike cereal!” “What would you like instead?” she asks. “Ice Cream!” Seconds later, while sitting in front of a bowl of Cookies-N-Cream he says, “I need a stage.” “What?” she asks. “A stage!” he said impatiently. This threw her. She looked outside and asked, “How about the patio?” “Sure!” he said. They took the ice cream outside and Luke stood on a bench and began to sing and dance. Keep in mind, all of this is happening before 7 am. Afterwards, his demands continued: “Cwap!” he shouted. “What?” she said. “I said, Cwap! Cwap!” Seeing my mother still confused, Luke rolled his eyes and started clapping his hands and said, “Cwap! Cwap! I finished singing”. Of course, my mother obliged and she clapped and continues to clap every time he sings, dances, or just stands there looking cute. Pretty scary – I hear this whole celebrity thing can really go to your head. I’m afraid he will be demanding chocolate covered corn flakes and a spot light before he’s four. |
