Not-So-Perfect Parent: The Blame Game

I was running late this morning. As I was sitting at the longest red light known to man, I started dishing out the blame. This was NOT my fault. The fault could be found with my family members for keeping me up the night before.

Culprit One: My Husband
For insisting we watch “Snakes on a Plane” – the perfect bed time movie (it still makes me squirm thinking about it).

Culprit Two: My Dog
Who snuck in our room in the middle of the night and targeted a flea or some sort of rash with such vigor that the tags on his collar began sounding like Big Ben was in my room.

Culprit Three: My Son
Who would periodically appear with a series of complaints ranging from “I’m thirsty” to “I heard something” to “My pillow smells funny”.

Now that I was in traffic, a new culprit emerged. The idiot truck driver who stood still in front of me even when the longest light known to man finally turned green.

I know I should take some personal responsibility and admit that if I had gotten up when my alarm rang, I would not sprinting to the office door in my high-heels. But blaming is so much easier. After all, I don’t have time for self improvement and accountability – especially when a coworker hogs the microwave in the break room making me late for my next meeting!
