Not-So-Perfect Parent: Positive Predictions - Outcome: Conclusion

The rest of the vacation went so smoothly that it is almost too boring to write about. We fished a lot and ate a lot. We spent two hours finding the flattest, smoothest, bestest skipping rocks and took turns skimming them across Lake Michigan. We ate at a restaurant that had grass and goats on the roof (yes grass and goats) and attended our first ever fish boil. Most of the time we hung out – laughing and playing and being a family.

Family vacations are rarely without bumps in the roads and many of my positive predictions did not come true. However, it is hard not to think of this vacation as a success. Even with flight delays and long car rides, we were together. Since returning home to the loads of laundry and loads of mail, I am sad that routine has returned. Even though they are in the house – I miss my kids as I attend to my daily list of chores and responsibilities allowing video games and cartoons to serve as my substitute.
