Not-So-Perfect Parent: Positively Pooped!

I have been riding this “positive thinking” train and it finally ran out of steam. Frankly, I got tired. I got tired of thinking positively when I paid a locksmith $55 for taking less than one minute to retrieve my keys out of my locked car. I got tired of thinking positively when I lost my prescription sunglasses for the third time this year. I got tired of thinking positively when my youngest threw-up three times all over my new comforter.

Although I still subscribe to the benefits of thinking positively, sometimes life makes that impossible to master. The fact is – stuff happens (to say in G rated sense). When life throws a curb ball, you should not kill yourself looking for the silver lining. In some ways it is refreshing, and a lot more honest, to say – “This Stinks! I’ll get through it, but It Stinks!”

I am sure I will board the Positive Train tomorrow. But until then, I am having another glass of wine, toasting my bad mood and enjoying my pity party.
