Not-So-Perfect Parent: Ice Cream

She hands him the cone already dripping with Bubble Gum ice-cream. With every bite, the melting dessert slides down his shirt. Before he is halfway through, his mouth, nose and hair are sticky with pink and blue ice-cream. He walks up to me and I lean down unable to resist a bubble gum kiss. We both giggle as I wipe the cream off of my nose.

Then he spots a bird enjoying the ice-cream drips on the side walk. Delighted he chases it, convinced he can catch it. Not only does the bird fly, but the remaining ice-cream falls off of his cone and onto the sidewalk. He stares at it in disbelief. With his head still down, he walks over to me and buries his face in my lap and starts to sob. As I kiss his sticky face, we walk back into the ice-cream shop and request another. Looking at him covered in ice-cream stains, the girl behind the counter does not look convinced that he needs another. Still, she obliges and we return outside so he can enjoy his cone and so I can enjoy a little more time watching him.
