I am up to my eyeballs in baseball. My oldest is seven-years-old and I am now entering into a whole new realm of “recreational” sports. There is nothing very recreational about baseball. He practices not once, not twice, but THREE times per week. When I questioned why so many practices, his very passionate coach barked, “The season starts in two weeks!” Now, I hope I am not violating any mother-of-boys code, but watching baseball is a little like watching paint dry. Usually, the most exciting moment is when your little boy is up to bat. But it’s not fun – not unless he’s a real slugger. For me, I stand their clutching my stomach and yell “Way to Swing” each time a ball whizzes by him. Wish me luck as I try to endure this baseball season – it’ll be a long one! |
