Have you watched “Be Mine Valentine Charlie Brown” lately? If you don’t have big plans tonight, pick up copy, pop some popcorn, and insist that your kids join you (even if they would rather talk on the phone or play video games). Each of the main characters has hopes for a grand Valentine’s Day: Although girls are not as into quoting movies, there are some memorable lines that are worth mentioning… Lucy: “It's awful! It will haunt you night and day! You'll wake up at night screaming! You can't eat! You can't sleep! You'll want to smash things! You'll hate yourself and the world and everybody in it! Awwwwww!” Linus: “I spent all my money. I made a fool of myself.” Violet: “Charlie Brown, we've been feeling awfully guilty about not giving you a Valentine this year. Here, I erased my Valentine from this one. I'd like you to have it.” According to Wikipedia, after the episode originally aired, children from all across America sent Charlie Brown Valentines out of sympathy. I had a Charlie Brown moment today. My husband and I both decided that we would not be exchanging Valentine's gifts. After all, Valentine's is a little over rated and money’s tight. While at work, I received a call from the mail room. Flowers from my sweetheart were waiting downstairs. I smiled to myself. My husband got it! Even when women say “Don’t get me anything for my birthday” or “Just a card for Valentine's”, they don’t mean it. They want to be remembered on special days and my husband somehow interpreted this confusing female code. I went downstairs to claim my gift. They were beautiful! An array of tulips in a variety of spring colors. I picked up the vase and turned to leave glancing at the card. It was addressed to “Paige Germany” – not “Paige Smith”. Yes, there are two “Paiges” that work here and I was the big loser. Good Grief!!! 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
Paige, I wish that your Dad and I had sent you flowers. Your blog was so tender. I love you, MOM
