Not-So-Perfect Parent: Do you ever....

Random thoughts for a Thursday morning…

Do you ever feel that you are simply doing tasks rather than living life?

Do you ever wonder if you are going to wake up one day, look at your grown children, and regret cleaning the dishes rather than tossing the football?

Do you ever have a desire to get in your car and just drive, and drive, and drive?

Do you ever listen to a song over and over again and let the tears fall remembering old boyfriends and college road trips?

Do you ever wonder if God is really listening?

Do you ever have to turn off the TV because it is too painful to watch?

Do you ever stand in a quiet place and simply listen?

Do you ever wonder what your great-grandmother worried about?

Do you ever wish for someone to tuck you into bed with kisses and stories?

Do you ever eat a chocolate chip cookie without worrying about the size of your thighs?

Do you?

You're actually famous on this one! I was at a luncheon last week and a former intern of mine told me about this episode. We laughed with you (not at you) for a really long time. :)

Do you ever wonder what childhood memories your children will cling to?

Do you ever lay on the grass and close your eyes and listen to the birds sing?

Do you ever close your eyes and smell your children and pray with all your might that harm will never find them?

Do you ever watch your husband play tickle monster with your children and fall in-love with him all over again?

Do you ever laugh so hard with your best friend you feel like you are 13 again?

Do you ever think about the fact that one day you will not be able to pick up the phone and dial your mom's phone number just to hear her voice?

I do
