There were many highlights this holiday that I couldn’t wait to share. Of course, you have the Hallmark Moments watching the children creep down the stairs, following a trail of Chuck-E-Cheese tokens to discover toys left by a jolly man who has elves as friends. However, there are others that I fear would not result in memories unless I wrote them down. Although I promise not bore you with a bunch of details, I am asking you to indulge me as I reminiscence. • A loaned umbrella to Santa to keep him dry on a rainy Christmas Eve • A Silly Sting fight between my older brother and yours truly (for the record – I dominated!) • Ten people trying to share four beds. • A bright red popcorn cart purchased for the cousins. • Christmas Eve dinner where nobody showed up (that’s okay – I had over-cooked the lasagna anyway) • A diamond tennis bracelet hidden in a Cuisinar Box. • A family vacation to Fort Wayne, Indiana (yes – I said Fort Wayne, Indiana) • A tour of lights on a two-horse open sleigh (complete with Bells on Bobtail) I would love to hear some of your Christmas memories. Write and share! 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
Here are some of my cherished Christmas memories
. My great grandmother telling me my stuffing "is dry and overseasoned"
. Making a beautiful gingerbread house and displaying it lovingly between my trumpet candlesticks and our nativity scene only for our dog to eat it 5 minutes after setting it out. My daughter was in tears and I was chasing the dog with a broom stick. My husband caught this on video and keeps playing it for friends and family
. My daughter leaving santa tamales and soup because it was cold outside and he might get tired of cookies. She also left him a note explaining how to warm up the snack in the microwave. (I kept the note because it as so thoughtful and I loved all the mispelled words.
. Hearing my son and daughter run to our bedroom at 5:00 in the morning on Christmas. We had the baby monitor on and my husband and I heard our daughter wake up our 2 year old son by saying- Wake-up baby brother Santa brought us lots of love and PRESENTS. Mommy said I could not wake her up unless you were up so get up!!"
