My husband and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary on Sunday. After a dozen years together, we entered into our 13th year with a bang – literally a bang! A car accident will make this anniversary memorable. My husband said it seems appropriate that the train wreck we started will be marked by a car wreak 12 years later! Both children were in the minivan when a car rammed into the passenger side spinning us into oncoming traffic. Thanks to side airbags and interventions from angels, no one was seriously hurt. My car, on the other hand, suffered most of the blow. My new minivan was a Christmas present from my husband last year. It didn’t quite make it a year – however, I am grateful it kept my family secure. In my younger, clueless days, I vowed never to own a minivan. I was committed to keeping my cool status even if I was driving carpool. However, the practical side of me that now embraces sensible shoes and comfortable underwear finally succumbed to the convenience of a minivan. Safety was also part of the decision – however, now it will be my main concern when selecting a new car. In my opinion, I think safety should be the number one priority for everyone – but most especially for parents. Although I have a big shiner on my head and a rash on my neck, we felt blessed to walk away. Later that night, my husband and I fell into bed – agreeing to suspend the romance for another time. We commented that our oldest was able to sum up our relationship and our anniversary with a statement he made seconds after the accident, “Wow! That was a cool ride!” 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
Oh my Gosh Paige,
I am so glad you and your family are OK. What a scary thing to have happen. Take care of yourself. Susan
