I’m not discouraged…

Doh! Yesterday was weigh-in and I gained a ½ lb. Although it’s only been a week, my perfect balance might be a little off. I think I might have had a few too many cheat foods (salmon pizza with cream cheese and AJ’s Chocolate Flourless dessert) and beverages (Guinness and wine) last week.

But the good news is, I’ve introduced more fruits and vegetables to my diet and I’m back in the gym. I’ve been running two miles at a time consistently for about a week and half now and I introduced my body to weights again. I didn’t over-due it with the weights, just three light sets of 12 reps. each with three exercises per body part. I’m actually feeling pretty good.

This weekend I’m going to up my running to three miles and slowly add more weights. And, of course try to eat as healthy as I can with more fruits and vegetables. AND, even though the scale says I’ve gained a ½ lb. I have more energy and feel better; it’s getting easier to get up at 5 a.m. to drive down to the gym. I’m actually enjoying it.

My biggest challenge is eating lean. In the next five days I’m going to dinner with some friends, two baseball games and an engagement dinner for me and my fiancé with all my favorite wines, cheeses and chocolate desserts. What are you going to do? I’m definitely going to indulge a little, but I will try to keep things in proportion so I don’t do too much damage. Wish me luck! I'm still in search of the perfect balance.
