The Miss America Pageant, U of A Women's Basketball Game, and the Miss Tucson Valley/ Miss Rio Nuevo Pageant

My friends Tina, Mike, Victoria, Marney, Valerie, Andrea and her family, Sean, my husband Thomas, and I were so excited to see the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund! Kirsten will travel throughout the country this year speaking to audiences about her platform of Raising Awareness of Eating Disorders and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network. Children's Miracle Network is a
non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals. CMN is the national platform partner of the Miss America Organization.

It was an honor to speak during half-time at the University of Arizona Women's Basketball game. Thank you to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure volunteers Nelda, Grace, and my mom Lorraine for your help at the booth to educate the public on early detection, awareness, and to help promote the upcoming Race for the Cure. Thank you so much to the team and coaches for participating in "Think Pink." "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began "Think Pink" in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year of the WBCA's "Think Pink" a huge success.

Congratulations to Erin Nurss, Miss Tucson Valley and Rachelle Gurule, Miss Rio Nuevo! It was wonderful to see Maggie Giuffrida, Miss Sierra Vista. Best of luck to all of you in the Miss Arizona Pageant. Looking forward to seeing you next week at the Children's Miracle Network IHOP event in Marana, Arizona and other community events this year!
