Are Cowboys Tough Enough to Wear Pink?
Posted February 26, 2008
You bet! Cowboys, cowgirls and fans wore pink on Sunday, Feb. 17th at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds to help promote breast cancer awareness. Thank you to the Tucson Rodeo Committee for donating $10,000 to the Southern Arizona Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation. Hundreds of fans visited the Komen booth to learn about the upcoming Race for the Cure scheduled for April 6th, breast cancer prevention, and community outreach programs.
Please check out www.komensaz.org to register for the Race for the Cure or donate. This national rodeo initiative was founded by Wrangler in 2005. Since its debut at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, millions of dollars have been raised at hundreds of rodeos nationwide. Thank you so much for your generous support!

Making Pancakes for Children's Miracle Network!
We celebrated "National Pancake Day" on February 12th at the IHOP in Marana, Arizona. Customers enjoyed a free short stack of IHOP's famous buttermilk pancakes and their donations supported Children's Miracle Network. Last year, IHOP raised more than $625,000 for Children's Miracle Network hospitals throughout the country. This year, they hope to raise $750,000.
It was an honor to help make pancakes and be a part of the celebration that helps make miracles for over 17 million children that visit CMN hospitals each year. Please log on to www.ihoppancakeday.com to find out more information on National Pancake Day and the Children's Miracle Network. Thank you so much to Erika Grasse (Director of CMN), Nicole Turner (Miss Arizona 2007), Chad (Manager at IHOP), and his staff.

Tucson Lifestyle Magazine Photo Shoot, Christmas Wish Fundraiser, and Levian Jewelry Show!
Posted February 12, 2008
For more than two decades, Tucson Lifestyle magazine has been a distinguished part of Tucson's history. It's the magazine's mission to showcase the fine dining, local charity events, fashion, and fitness. It promotes the positive aspects of our city of Tucson. Thank you so much to Sue Giles, Editor and Chief and her amazing staff Melanie, Matthew, Megan, and Holly. Thank you to Charles at Crimson Salon for my hair and make-up. Looking forward to seeing the March Issue!
It was an honor to help promote JohnJay and Rich KRQ Radio "Christmas Wish" fundraiser last month. All donated items and money go to families in need, and all the profits made from the show's Christmas CDs go into the wish pot. The show spends thousands of dollars — well over $70,000 by the end of the year. Thank you so much to JohnJay, Rich, Carrie, Mr. An, and local sponsors for your incredible support.
It was a pleasure to model with Mrs. America 2008 Kelly McBee at LeVian Show at Jared's The Gallery of Jewelry store in Tucson. Thank you so much to Eddie LeVian for being one of the largest sponsors for our organization. Thank you to the LeVian staff for allowing me to model my new Mrs. World crown ring. The Mrs. America/ Mrs. World Organization appreciates your generous support.

The Miss America Pageant, U of A Women's Basketball Game, and the Miss Tucson Valley/ Miss Rio Nuevo Pageant
Posted February 8, 2008
My friends Tina, Mike, Victoria, Marney, Valerie, Andrea and her family, Sean, my husband Thomas, and I were so excited to see the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund! Kirsten will travel throughout the country this year speaking to audiences about her platform of Raising Awareness of Eating Disorders and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network. Children's Miracle Network is a
non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals. CMN is the national platform partner of the Miss America Organization.
It was an honor to speak during half-time at the University of Arizona Women's Basketball game. Thank you to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure volunteers Nelda, Grace, and my mom Lorraine for your help at the booth to educate the public on early detection, awareness, and to help promote the upcoming Race for the Cure. Thank you so much to the team and coaches for participating in "Think Pink." "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began "Think Pink" in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year of the WBCA's "Think Pink" a huge success.
Congratulations to Erin Nurss, Miss Tucson Valley and Rachelle Gurule, Miss Rio Nuevo! It was wonderful to see Maggie Giuffrida, Miss Sierra Vista. Best of luck to all of you in the Miss Arizona Pageant. Looking forward to seeing you next week at the Children's Miracle Network IHOP event in Marana, Arizona and other community events this year!
