Rally for a Cure and CATwalk!
Posted November 13, 2007

Thanks to my friend Emily Dille for inviting me to speak at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club's Rally for a Cure golf tournament. Thank you to Emily and her co-workers for my beautiful glass vase. You are so kind and generous. This was a wonderful opportunity to speak about Komen's mission, the importance of early detection, and breast cancer facts and myths. The Rally for the Cure event raised funds for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation for research, education, screening, and treatment.

It was an honor to participate the 7th annual CATwalk, a 5k walk to fight womens' cancer. CATwalk is a public philanthropic event donating more than $120,000 to benefit the Bobbi Olson Fund for women's cancer research, education and prevention at the Arizona Cancer Center. Thank you to Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Lute Olson for inviting the Tucson community to walk for this worthy cause.

U of A Homecoming Parade and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Posted November 8, 2007

Thank you and congratulations to all of our Tucson Striders for your support in making our 5th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk a huge success. We had over 5,000 walkers and raised over $195,000 with more donations still coming in! Thank you so much for my Mrs. World Team members, Mom, Patti, Joan, Elisa, and Tony. Thank you to my friend Roberta for my beautiful shirt. To learn more about the American Cancer Society's programs and services, please visit http://www.cancer.org/.

Arizona 34, UCLA 27! What an exciting game today! Go CATS! My family and I enjoyed supporting the The University of Arizona football team and Homecoming Parade. My parade driver's car stalled so John and Jesse came to the rescue! Thank you to John Phillips at Royal Automotive Group and Jessie, President of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. I appreciate your kindness and generosity.

Miss AZ USA, Rotary Club, Gym, and AIDS Walk
Posted November 1, 2007

The 2008 Miss Arizona USA and Miss Arizona Teen USA Pageant was an exciting event. It was held at the beautiful Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. Congratulations to my good friend Diana Jung for placing in the "Top 15." It was wonderful to see my friends from Alabama Julie Love Templeton, Mrs. America 2005 and Dohn Dye who judged the event. Congratulations to Kimberly Joiner, Miss AZ USA, and Ashley Stainton, Miss AZ Teen USA. You will have an amazing year increasing awareness, educating, and fundraising for charities.

I served as the the Keynote Speaker at the Dove Mountain and Marana Rotary Club breakfast meeting. That afternoon, I spoke at the Marana Chamber of Commerce luncheon. My topics included my platform Breast Cancer Awareness and the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation, the Mrs. America/ Mrs. World Organization, and my upcoming trip to Malaysia next month!

It's been a blast training with my new Personal Trainer, Tony Copeland, twice a week to get ready for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Run/Walk. It's scheduled for October 28th at the Tucson Mall. Thank you so much Tony, Pro Performance, and Select Fitness for your tremendous support.

It was an extraordinary opportunity to speak at the National Latino AIDS Awareness Day walk and candle light vigil in Nogales, Arizona. NLAAD is a collective movement that focuses on educating and mobilizing Latino communities to increase their knowledge and understanding on the impact of HIV/AIDS. Their mission is to draw attention to the importance of HIV testing, education, and prevention. Thank you so much to Ernesto, Myrna, RJ, and Octavio for your hard work and dedication to NLAAD.
