Rally for a Cure!
Posted February 16, 2007

It was an honor to be the "Guest Speaker" at the SaddleBrooke Ladies' Niners Second Annual "Rally for a Cure" Golf Tournament and Auction. This organization raised funds for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It was a pleasure to meet the 18 breast cancer survivors, 144 Club members, and the Committee. Thank you so much Kerry Wolfe for inviting me to speak at this wonderful event. Looking forward to seeing you at the "Race for the Cure!

Phoenix Suns Charity Dinner!
Posted February 15, 2007

The Phoenix Suns Charities invited the Mrs. Arizona contestants and I to volunteer at the Suns & Stars Gala on February 10, 2007 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. We enjoyed entertainment by Grammy winning musician, Seal! In addition to Seal’s performance, the 2007 Suns & Stars Gala featured a silent auction and a festive after party. Proceeds from the gala benefit Phoenix Suns Charities which works to improve the lives of Arizona youth.

The National Anthem Project!
Posted February 13, 2007

I had an amazing day at Painted Sky Elementary School in Oro Valley, Arizona. I spoke to Mrs. Purvis's 2nd grade classroom and the PAL after-school program. The students were so excited when I asked for three volunteers to stand in the front of the classroom with me to lead the Star-Spangled Banner. Alexis, Luis, and Heather were so excited to show off their beautiful voices and help other students learn the correct words to our National Anthem. Then I explained to the students the importance of knowing American History and promoted "Character Counts." I read a short story titled "Honest Abe" from the book, "The Children's Book of Heros." Thank you so much to the Rebaza family, Mrs. Purvis, Sabrina, and Kirsta.

Fundraiser at the Outback!
Posted February 9, 2007

Miss Sierra Vista, Erin Nurss and I had a blast at the Miss Sierra Vista Scholarship Pageant luncheon fundraiser at the Outback Steakhouse. I was introduced as Miss Sierra Vista 1996 and Mrs. America 2007. Erin and I had an opportunity to meet with the guests at each table to discuss our platforms, community service, and promote our pageant organizations. Thank you so much to Angela and Helen (Directors), Mike (Manager at Outback), Catherine (Photographer), and the citizens of Sierra Vista for you tremendous support to help young women fulfill their educational dreams!
