Believe it or Not...Fran’s involved with Something Odd is happening on Times Square
Posted June 29, 2007
They say things often happen in three's. Well out of all days of the month... three very exciting things were going to happen in my life on this one particular Thursday, and I had to choose only one to attend.
First, I was hired to fly out to Scottsdale, Arizona to do two television shows, and my "Dare to Do it " talk in front of an audience of world class surgeons and breast cancer survivors.
Second, I was being honored at Queens College at a dinner along with Ray Ramano, Joy Behar and Jerry Seinfeld.
Third, I was asked to attend the grand opening red carpet event of the Ripley's Believe it or Not Odditorium located at Times Square (42nd between 7th & 8th). The press was going to be out in force interviewing the record holders.
All were taking place on the same night, and at the same time! Since I haven't perfected my cloning abilities just yet I needed to figure out a way to do them all.
I knew I had to fly to Scottsdale that night, because I was under contract to do a 5 a.m. morning show, not to mention I also love doing my talk and inspiring people... so that gig was a must.
As for Queens College, I sent them some pictures and a DVD of what I do, and they put it in a montage that they showed at the dinner.
As for Ripley's...that was a tough one. Since I was in last years Ripley's Believe it or Not Planet Eccentric book (page 108- not that I have it memorized)
and in this years book as well with my Titanic record, I did not want to miss this red carpet event... Carmen Electra, Kelly Osbourne and Jenny McCarthy would be there. Which is cool in itself, but I as more fascinated that my fellow BIONS (Believe It or Nots) that would be there... like the Conjoined Twins, Mini KISS (a pint sized version of the rock group Kiss), The Lizard Man (complete with forked tongue and a reptile torso), the one armed waiter who was going to serve up some snacks, the lady that pops her eyes out of her head (although that might be hard to watch), wolf boy, and the man with the biggest mouth in the world... a guy who can stick 280 straws in at one time... I mean come on how cool would it be to have the fastest lips met the biggest mouth?
So I came up with a solution. I was meeting with this producer guy named Phil. Phil, is the brainchild behind Rockmetv.com (a 24 hour online internet station). We had talked about me doing a show called, "Fran's World and welcome to it" (Sound familiar? Yup a video extension of this blog.) So I suggested that we do an episode on the Ripley's odditorium and its grand opening.

A Gazillion Bubble Show or Don’t burst my Bubble
Posted June 22, 2007
It started innocently enough. I received a Google alert email saying that a world renowned Bubble Artist (didn't even know such a thing existed) and 12 time Guinness Book World Record Holder, Fan Yang, was going to attempt to add another world record to his title... the worlds biggest bubble chamber and 34 people from the audience were going to be chosen to stand inside it.
I didn't need to read anymore, I was hooked... a world record attempt and the chance to stand inside a giant bubble... that was right up my alley.

If you have ever written a book, or are in the book business you know that the Book Expo of America commonly called the BEA, is the biggest thing in the United States and if you are part of it, you are lucky.
Once a year, publishing houses, famous authors, book lovers, librarians, agents, clients, book buyers, and wanna be authors gather in the thousands to this three day event, that usually takes place the first weekend in June.
The BEA usually rotates from LA, to Chicago to NY. Thousands of booths are set up all vying for attention. Each booth trying to outdo the other for customer appeal. Tons of give always, huge posters, banners, food, music are just part of the tactics...but mainly people come to get the hot off the press book, signed by a famous author.

Talking to Hong Kong in a Room by Myself
Posted June 1, 2007
Answering machines to me are like little boxes filled with surprises... you never know what awaits you when you press the button. A few days ago I pressed the button and I hear, "Hi, I'm trying to reach Fran Capo. My name is Sarita and I'm calling from CNN International in Hong Kong. We were actually calling to inquire about an interview with Fran later this week..."
I start to smile. Even though I've done interviews all around the world, I still get a kick when I get a call overseas...what can I say...life amuses me. I call Sarita back and she asks me if I would be willing to go on CNN on Thursday, evening at 7:30.
"Sure where am I doing this? In Hong Kong?"
She laughs, "Sorry. No we have studios in New York."
I laugh, "Oh well, I tried. Thought maybe I'd make a quick trip over there."
I actually was partially serious...hey my friend Ashrita (who holds the world record for holding the most world records ... 144) flies around the world breaking records and doing interviews so you never know. As a matter of fact I just got an email from him that he broke a record racing on stilts against a camel. He won because the camel sat down and refused to budge.
Anyway...so I agree to do the show. I was pretty excited about it since CNN, specifically The Larry King Live Show, is how my fast-talking career got started. Again, it was a call out of the blue...saying they had read in the Daily News that I was planning on breaking a world record for fast talking and that Larry wanted me to attempt that record on the show first.
