Gene Norman: September 2008 ArchivesAs we start a new month and continue to recover after Ike, the weather is helping by remaining dry. This past week was a little bit on the warm side, but a cool front is slipping across the state today. Since the air is so dry, there haven't been any clouds with the front, just a reinforcing shot of cool air. So we can open the windows at night and air things out. Overnight lows in the 50s remind us that it is fall, even though cooler days... Toward the end of last week, we were tracking three storms. Hanna skipped up the East coast over the weekend, bringing heavy rain and creating mudslides in Springfield, Massachusetts. Josephine fizzled out in the Atlantic and that leaves just Ike. Over the weekend, Ike flared up to category 4 strength and made a hard left toward Haiti and Cuba. Now Ike is over Cuba, but its still a strong category 2 hurricane. While it will likely weaken ... |
