Look, Up In The Sky!

Neither bird nor plane nor guy with an "S" on his chest will you see. But stare toward the southwest Tuesday night at 8:33 and you'll see several fast-moving dots. They are the International Space Station (ISS), the Space Shuttle Endeavor and something called the ATV. The ATV was launched recently by the Europeans and is also called the Jules Vernes. It's a robotic cargo carrier and it's parked in orbit some 1200 miles ahead of the ISS. T...

We're bracing for big storms later today, but until the rain arrives, the wind has been the big story. It's like having a tropical storm without the rain. In weather, there are actually two - storm and snow. I generally don't like to mention the latter in Southeast Texas, because, well, it causes people to panic. In this case, there isn't anything to really panic about, but don't be surprised if a few flakes float around early Friday morning.

A slow moving cold front currently lies from just east of Dallas to San Antonio. Later today, low pressure will form along the front as it slide...

Yee-Haw!

Alternate spellings are yee-ha! or yeow! (I think). Ah yes, the smell of hay, cotton candy and horse poop! Nothing beats the rodeo. I think it's great that in this day of iPods and instant messaging, we pause and gaze upon a lifestyle few of us would choose. The rural hard work of farming and raising animals; which once was the way many people lived. Now, we just pull up to the Kroger and load up the gas-guzzling SUVs.

Even though...
