The second day of 2009 has been unusually warm. Our low this morning of 64° is what the normal high should be. Warm, moist air continues to flow into Southeast Texas. Meanwhile, to our west, a devleoping upper-level storm system is poised to plow into that warm air and touch off showers and thunderstorms while you sleep tonight into Saturday morning. Here's what our Super Microcast computer model indicates: As those storms rumble through, there's the potential for strong, gusty winds, small hail and plenty of thunder and lightning. So if you were planning to take down your holiday decorations, wait until the afternoon or Sunday, after things dry out.
