I expect today's clouds to hang around for the big turkey day and there could also be some light rain moving in as well. It got me thinking about Thanksgivings past here in H-town. Since the date is different every year, this took a bit of work. But here is what it's been like on the 4th Thursday in November since 1999:

Nov. 22, 2007:
High: 57 Low: 42 Rain: .01"

Nov. 23, 2006:
High: 77 Low: 47

Nov. 24, 2005:
High: 77 Low: 54

Nov. 25, 2004:
High: 62 Low: 40

Nov. 27, 2003:
High: 79 Low: 51 Rain: Trace

Nov. 28, 2002:
High: 59 Low: 40

Nov. 22, 2001:
High: 75 Low: 54

Nov. 23, 2000:
High: 73 Low: 58 Rain: .51 "

Nov. 25, 1999:
High: 57 Low: 36 Rain: .27"

So the average high over this 9-year period was 68 and the average low was 47. Remember, if you're headed to the parade Thanksgiving morning, bring your poncho. And I hope you and yours have a very wonderful Thanksgiving. There's a lot for which to give thanks this year!

Here's a fun forecast sent by viewer Beverly Rosenbaum:

Turkeys will thaw in the morning, then warm in the oven to an afternoon high near 190°. The kitchen will turn hot and humid, and if you bother the cook, be ready for a severe squall or cold shoulder.

During the late afternoon and evening, the cold front of a knife will slice through the turkey, causing an accumulation of one to two inches on plates. Mashed potatoes will drift across one side while cranberry sauce crates slippery spots on the other. Please pass the gravy.

A weight watch and indigestion warning have been issued for the entire area, with increased stuffiness around the beltway. During the evening, the turkey will diminish and taper off to leftover, dropping to a low of 34° in the refrigerator.

Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, high pressure to eat sandwiches will be established. Flurries of leftovers can be expected both days with a 50% chance of scattered soup late in the day. We expect a warming trend where soup develops. By early next week, eating pressure will be low as the only wish left will be the bone.
