Wow! Wasn't this morning something? The official low at Bush Intercontinental Airport was 46, shattering the previous record of 51 set in 1996. Galveston and College Station were also cooler than normal but not quite records at 58 and 47 respectively. Enjoy it while you can because this is probably the last time you'll see this kind of relief from warm and muggy weather. By the way, the "normal" Houston weather will return by Wednesday. A cool pocket of air that moved in behind a front that swept across Texas Sunday is the cause of the fresh breezes and dry air. Now, the high pressure cell that brought the cool air will slip to our east and because winds flow clockwise around a high, Monday's north winds will switch back to the south. That will mean warmer mornings and afternoons. Clouds return by the middle of the week. At least we can all look forward to a lighter electric bill because this is the third time this month we've seen cooler than normal weather each time a cold front slipped into the state. |
