April Cool-Down

I noticed something odd late Friday just as I was set to leave for the night. A printout slid into the tray on the printer in the weather office. It was the 6 to 10 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center. I glanced at it before hanging it on the pegboard in the office and then I did a double take.

The outlook indicated below normal temperatures for the middle of the country including Houston for the period of April 10-13. I thought, nahhh! Well, guess what? That's what we should expect this weekend. Once we get through with the storm threat for tomorrow and early Friday, cool and dry air will sweep into Texas. It could mean lows in the morning on Sunday and Monday in the upper 40s! In the afternoon, highs may only reach into the mid 70s. Now that's something to look forward to, especially with the MS 150 bike race and Astros home games against the Marlins.

Is there any way to find out what the wind speeds were on the MS150? The head wind was brutal.
