Adventure Boot Camp, Day 3
I am so happy that I had the weekend to recover from my first two days of Boot Camp. Friday and Saturday were pretty painful days....Saturday night, I started feeling a little better. I also decided that I probably should exercise a bit on Sunday to work a little stiffness out before I hit it again this morning. I ran about a mile and walked a mile...but I added a 10 lb weight vest to the mix to challenge myself a little more. The weight vest was pretty cool, although I did get a lot of strange looks from passersby! The best part was finishing and taking it off and feeling like I lost 10 lbs!
This morning's Boot Camp was the benchmark test of situps, pushups and running a mile. I had a hard time with situps because my lower back is so weak and it just really hurt. Pushups were fine and running was fine. We aren't really competing with one another, but instead, with ourselves. I gotta say though that last round on my mile, I did kick in a little extra so I could rank in the top 5 of about 15. I ended up coming in 4th....I know, I know, it's not a competition, but hey, if it makes me push myself a little harder then it can't hurt.
I asked one girl who did exceptionally well on situps how many she did (these are timed) and she wouldn't tell me! Basically, she kicked all of us! Awesome.
Oh, and I have only dropped a 1/2 lb in a week and that is discouraging. Must be that age thing!
Here are my test stats:
Running: 10.31 minutes for one mile
Push-ups for 1 minute: 37
Sit-ups for 1 minute: 22 (ugh)

Don't let her fool you ... I've been working hard for two days to keep up with her! I'm also in the Adventure Boot Camp, and for me, it's been great. Not because I love exercise and certainly not because I enjoy getting up before the sun peeks over the horizon--it's how I feel! While I admit I have seen a 2-3 pounds of weight loss, I look in the mirror and still see all the same dimples smiling back at me from my thighs! UGH! My goal isn't necessarily to lose pounds as much as it is to tone the flab. What motivates me now is the great feeling I have each day after a another one-hour workout. I have more energy, my mood is uplifted and I'm ready for whatever the next several hours dish my way--all before anyone else in my house is awake! I agree that the program is not designed for competition with others but you can be sure I'm motivated by those who run ahead of me--I always try hard to catch up! Though I don't see visible results yet, I am confident I will soon!
