With Americans looking to save money any way they can, the City of Dallas is offering a money-saving solution to its residents.

The City of Dallas, through its partnership with the Dallas Sustainable Skylines Initiative, is offering a home energy efficiency and water conservation kit free to any homeowner or renter (with landlord permission) in Dallas. These kits will help residents live green and save green. Quick, simple fixes can lower utility bills, save water and reduce impacts on air quality.

The kit is a re-usable Green Dallas shopping bag filled with items including compact fluorescent bulbs, low-flow shower head, moldable caulking, clear window tape, faucet aerators, toilet tank leak-detection tablet pack, draft stoppers, foam weather-stripping, and other materials.

Requirements:
Must be Dallas (city) resident;
Must attend educational seminar to pick up kit

To Sign Up For a FREE Kit:
Dallas residents should send an email to GreenDallas@dallascityhall.com with the Subject Line: "Kit Sign Up" with the following information:
Choose a seminar to attend.
Provide contact information: Name - Address - Phone Number - Email address
Additional info:
In order to quantify the effectiveness of the program, the City of Dallas will capture kilowatt usage from participating residents' power meters. Residents agree to have their power usage tracked by accepting the kits; this process requires no additional efforts by participants beyond the educational seminar they must attend to receive their kit. Additionally, this program will also be used to gauge homeowner interest in additional weatherization programs offered through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and helping eligible homeowners with additional upgrades.

Funding for the kits came from the Environmental Protection Agency through the Dallas Sustainable Skylines Initiative in order to study the effects of energy efficiency and water conservation education and efforts across Dallas.

Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis.
