Go Green School Award in honor of Texas Recycles Day

Does your school have "green" spirit? Are you proud of your schools recycling, waste reduction or other environmental program? Would you like your school recognized for its efforts? Apply now for the Go Green School Award in honor of Texas Recycles Day on November 15. This award is supported by the City of Fort Worth Environmental Management Department and Keep Fort Worth Beautiful.

Award Criteria
* Any school program addressing the three Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - are eligible for application
* Schools from any ISD are eligible for application but must be physically located within Fort Worth city limits to participate

Application Guidelines
A program description must be attached to your project application and should cover efforts completed between January 1 and October 17, 2008. Program descriptions must include:

* A profile of the applicant(s) including statistics that may be applicable to the award category
* A description of the project or program. Please include leadership efforts required to accomplish the project, timeline and impact on the school community:
* Describe project(s) in the area of school waste reduction, reusing, and recycling as well as any unique environmental education program(s). Include number of participants/volunteers, hours donated, and/or other statistical information
* Note any plans of program expansion and/or how long the program will continue
* A description of the unique and/or creative ways that the applicant went above and beyond

Award Categories
* Elementary School
* Middle School
* High School

One award will be given in each category. Each winning school will receive a $350 VISA/MC gift card, presented an award at a City Council meeting and included on the city's Web site. Award to be presented at a Council Meeting convenient for both the school and Council agenda.
