So, Ugly Betty's America Ferrera is Glamour's latest cover girl -- you know, the "curvy" or "nontraditional" beauty that they can tout as showcasing something different. (Even if the styling seems to be trying hard to make her look like every other skinny Hollywood star out there. Remember Queen Latifah all smoothed out from the Sept issue?) I haven't read the issue yet, but I did enjoy a hilarious translation of the Ferrera interview posted at the guanabee.com, a site that explores pop culture with Latino flair. Check it out: http://guanabee.com/2007/09/glamour-asks-what-its-like-to.php Because really what's the point of women's mags if we can't have a little fun with how ridiculous some of the standards and advice really are? |
