Juanita Jimenez: May 2008 ArchivesHOUSTON -- A Customs and Border Protection officer was arrested for using his credentials to transport six kilograms of cocaine to Houston in exchange for $6,000 and expenses, police say. Police in Richmond say thieves caused considerable damage at a small airport in the area. The thieves, police say, broke into six airplanes at the Westheimer Air Park. They stole a lot of tools and caused $4,000 in damage to a vintage plane. The airport's owner, William Reid, said he suspects mischievous teenagers. There is no fence around the airport. A maintenance man at a West Houston apartment complex walked by an open door Monday morning and saw the body of a man spattered with blood. Police say the victim had just been beaten to death. No arrests have been made, but police suspect the husband of the victim's girlfriend. The husband was due in court moments after the killing to finalize the divorce. He never showed up. ...A local man is behind bars after an overnight standoff in the Heights. Police eventually had to use force to get inside the home. SWAT teams had to use a big battering arm to break through the burglar bars on the windows. It all started with a neighbor called police to say her neighbor threw a brick at her. After an 8-hour standoff SWAT teams threw tear gas in the man's home and he surrendered. Police say he has a history of mental health issues. ...Police are looking for clues in the shooting death of a local man. A police report indicates that Donjuan White, 25, was shot as he met several people at an apartment on 10950 Briar Forest early Sunday. White died at the scene from several gunshot wounds.
